Full Sir Alex Ferguson interview with Charlie Rose
I agree.
Despite his portrayal in the media as Mr Angry, Fergie comes across as a very warm and friendly man.
He's also a very articulate man, giving nuanced answers to questions rather than the bland and boring cliches you get from some managers.

So Gerrard's not a 'top, top player'? Well why did you try to sign him, Fergie?

IMHO, whether Fergie is correct depends on what you mean by a 'top, top footballer'.
Gerrard has been in the top tier of Premiership footballers for the past 10-15 years, so in that sense he is a 'top, top footballer'.
However, he's never been at the 'all time great' category of some of his contemporaries, such as Zidane, Messi, Ronaldo and Henry.
I doubt many footballing journalists, if asked to pick the best world footballer of the past 10-15 years, would choose Gerrard, so in that sense he isn't a 'top, top footballer'.
