Is it just me, or are City a bit low at 2.06-2.08 to win the Premiership?

- They aren't even top of the table.
- They aren't that far ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea.
- We're only halfway through the season

It seems a bit premature for them to be just above evens...

Man Utd now 39/1 to win the Premier League, you can still get 700/1 on relegation ;)

Yeah, although at least we no longer have the indignity of being behind Southampton!

Speaking of which, how did Southampton get on today Peter?

Happy New Year! :)

One thing about supporting a team with no money in comparison to other sides, is a defeat is never a disappointment, relegation would be, but not a defeat.

I suspected Man U may suffer, but Europe is becoming a serious doubt now, which could be a major problem for them.

I can see the rest of the season going like the first half for United. :(

We had something like 60% of the possession today, but if we're letting in goals and not putting goals away, that's not much use. We can no longer use the excuse that Moyes is new and everyone is adapting to his way of playing. Something has to change, or we'll keep under-performing week after week.

BTW, it would be wonderfully ironic if we qualified for the CL by using the precedent set by Liverpool - winning it - but I can't see it happening under this gaffer!

As an Evertonian who is still a big fan of Moyes, I have to say that:

1) Tottenham aren't a bad side.
Adebayor, Eriksen, Lennon - class
2) Inexcusably poor defending for their second goal from Valencia and De Gea, but Tottenham worked their opening well and the crucial pass was aided by a lucky deflection. It was from Spurs POV a good team goal.
3) You were robbed. 2 pens, a sending off, a free kick on the edge of the area and a ridiculous yellow card for Yanuzaj.
4) You were unlucky not to score at the death.

The point I am making is that you cannot blame DM for any of the above. Maybe SAF had an effect on the officials which DM lacks, but I don't think that is DM's fault either.

Hi OnGoldWires

You may well be right about yesterday, and if this were an isolated loss, then I might have shrugged my shoulders and said, 'You can't win em all'. However, my comments took into account what's previously happened in the season. This is our worst start in terms of home games since 1963! http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/premier ... sVO-NJdUnM

Did you sense when Moyes was at Everton that he had a negative attitude in some respects? That's the impression I have of him. Maybe a defensive style of football works well at a team where you aim to grab the odd goal and not get hit on the break, but not a stronger team which is better suited to a more attacking style of play (no disrespect to Everton).

It's funny how the 'the ref is always on United's side at Old Trafford' crowd are so quiet today!

Ashley Young has a bit of reputation as a diver, which may have affected the ref's judgement.

Moyes might be a tad negative and a bit predictable, but I think he was still improving Everton at the end and I think he is still learning and developing.

I think at the start of the season you would say his greatest challenge would be the champions league and maybe he has overachieved here at that expense of the PL.

I will be surprised if you don't get consistent enough to qualify for the champions league this season.

Manchester United players raise concerns over David Moyes credentials - http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... ons-league

What a surprise...

'Before the defeat at Sunderland, in which Vidic scored United's equaliser, his agent, Silvano Martina, told an Italian radio station: "At the moment, I would rule out an extension [to his contract] with Manchester United."

Vidic's disquiet follows Danny Welbeck's denial of the claim last month by Moyes that the manager had to instruct the striker to be "the last off the training field" in order to improve. Within days the player offered a counter-view. "I have been doing that [extra training] ever since I have been at United," he said.

Fergie would never have publicly criticized a particular player's work ethic.

IMHO, if Moyes has lost the dressing room, he should either build bridges PDQ or resign...

I would want most of the players to convince me that they are good enough to play for the team if I was Moyes, at the moment most of them are not doing it on the field. Far too easy to blame the manager and if you believe half of what the press dream up
