It always amazes me how fickle and lacking in foresight football is. Did anyone really expect Moyes to better Sir Alex? Of course there was going to be a dip in performance!
At the beginning of his days at Man U , Sir Alex was almost sacked but they kept faith with him and look what happened. Liverpool in their glory days always kept faith with their managers even with a dip in form. So did Leeds United.
It is a known fact that sacking a manager doesn't lead to better performance immediately. Moyes had a 6 year contract and sacking him after 1 of them is bizarre.
If some of the overpaid darlings in the dressing room didn't like him they could go and play for Chelsea!

I remember van Gaal at Ajax back in 1995 and he is a great manager. But if he gets the job do you really think he can win the championship in his first season?

I disagree.

He'd clearly lost the dressing room, he blew £30 million on Fellaini when we desperately needed to bolster our defense, he played players out of position, and he couldn't decide on his starting 11, with something like 51 different line ups in 51 games!

Other managers have vastly improved clubs in their first year - Martinez at Everton, for example - so that begs the question of why Moyes couldn't.

I think his biggest mistake was to mess with a winning formula though. He should have stuck with Fergie's backroom staff and his core methodology, and maybe made little tweaks here and there, rather than replacing a winning formula with a losing one.

That doesn't surprise me at all, Jeff

Fottballers have huge egos - they are young millionaires.
That dressing room was full of Champions, some of them have won numerous PL medals. Some of them have won the CL, and most of them have tons of International caps..............David Moyes has none of that

That instantly makes him a source of ridicule - what could he possibly say or do that will inspire those players?

He won the old 2nd division for Preston North End.

Yeah, in fairness he took Preston from being in danger of relegation from Division Two to the first division play off final. However, that was about 12 years ago.

looks like van gaal is in the hot seat now. Would have to think moyes was sacked weeks ago judging off the speed of the appointment.

other reports saying utd are denying it.

I'm looking for Man Utd to put in a much improved performance today.

New managers that are popular after sacking managers that were unpopular nearly always lift the team.

Interesting to see the price activity on the Liverpool vs Chelsea match. Without knowing the team the market is discounting a lot early then hasn't changed it's mind. Surely when the team news is out that will have an impact from here.

According to a ratings site, Liverpool are too low at the current price of 1.76-7: http://www.soccer-rating.com/calculator ... 2s=chelsea

They are, came in a lot, but Mournho is a past master at pulling out results from these types of matches as he is showing.

in the second half Liverpool had so many wrong passes that you'd think they wanted to loose.
