Entertaining first game to be sure, but the refereeing in these world cups often seems to be "erratic" to put it mildly. If I didn't know better, I'd have thought that that Japanese ref was working for the Brazilians ;)
The ref's are under pressure to make sure FIFA make a shed load of money from ticket sales and if the host nation went out early that would be disastrous for the money men, so Brazil could not lose that first game, FIFA would not allow it. And the actions of the ref spoke volumes, anyone remember the World Cup in Korea and how the Italians then the Spanish were robbed.

The sooner Blatter & Platini dissapear up there own rectum and all the courruption is stopped will be the day the working man gets his beautiful game back.

I do remember the Korea world cup, where decision after decision went Koreas way for several games in a row!

Some of it may just be home support. If you think about it, when the home team is playing, the ref has 10's of thousands of fanatical fans roaring their approval when he makes a decision they like, conversely, the same crowd will all be roaring with anger if he makes the 'wrong' decision. That must create some psychological pressure.

Pre game Match odds markets seem very volatile considering how much liquidity the games have. Disappointed in that, it feels like trading a low liquidity Europa League match, was hoping for a bit more stability.

Spain vs Netherlands is a good game. Spain on the way out in the group stages?

I'm pretty relaxed about the England match now, nothing can be as bad as being world champions and getting smashed 5-1

Sensational Game
I just placed a bet on Man u for next year as surely the odds will move a little if the Netherlands play like that next time out?

I'm inclined to want to back England for the WC outright - I have never known English fans to be so pessimistic about England's chances, so an uexpected victory tonight might see a surge of activity on their price once punters become suddenly optimistic

I backed them as part of my portfolio at 32 just as it was announced that Suarez was supposedly going to be out, it looks to have been a good move and a win tonight would see the price steam in even further :D
