Does anyone know what % of 2nd Fav's Win?

Hi All,

It's commonly known that around 33% of fav's win in a horse race but does anyone know the win rate of 2nd fav's or where I can get the information from.

The reason about 1/3rd of favorites win is because the average SP of a favorite is around 3.3

Just divide one by the odds and there is your answer! The market is remarkably efficient.

Based on my own records its around 20% for 2nd Fav and 14% 3rd Fav.

I make the average price offered on Fav's the equivalent to 34.4% (2.91) with a win rate of 34.8%.

Position of winners in the horse racing market
over the last 12 months.

1 33.38%
2 19.73%
3 14.27%

All other positions were under 10%.

So you can see around 66% of favs got beat.
