You can’t go back and fix the past. It’s done and settled.
Yes, the technology is just not there yet.

Don't forget the cost paid for by the taxpayers, especially the pensioners who cannot strike for more money and have lost their winter fuel payment
I still think there should be a system for pensioners that don't need the winter fuel allowance to put it back into the system, tax free to be redistributed to those that need it.
It's a worthy system, but a bit nuts IMO. Does a millionaire need a few hundred?
I fully agree GM but we that can afford to do without it are only a few of the claimed 10 million it has been taken away from.
Labour are trying to find those that are entitled to pension credit but not claiming. If they find them they get the fuel allowance too.
Isn't this the eptiome of our society. Some straining every sinew to hoodwink the benefits system. And yes I know there are dishonest people at every level, but I'm more concerned about those at the bottom.
They're too proud or unaware of their entitlement to claim.
I guess the govt view is a few hundred quid per person isn't worth installing a new system. Which is probably correct on reflection. Govt is utterly rubbish at procuring software. We just have to rely on the generosity of those that don't need the money to donate it to the right place. Tricky.

When is a promise not a promise? According to Labour: when it's not in the manifesto!

Labour's excuse for not honouring the promise they made to the NFU on many occasions pre election that there would be no changes on IHT for farmers is that it was not in their manifesto! So that means they see nothing wrong with lying for votes so long as they don't put their lies in their manifesto ... would you expect anything else from this unprincipled mob?

How do you feel about us cosying up to the EU to get a new trade agreement?

I'm happy to "cosy up to anyone" on acceptable terms. A trade agreement does not have to mean they rule over us and control us. There are many trade agreements around the world where "rule and control" is not a requirement. But I fail to see how a "trade agreement" comment should be linked to a Labour Government that lied to farmers. If they can lie to farmers they can lie to all!

On the same page again. Apart from the farming aspect. I'm not convinced Labour lied to farmers. They just didn't say what they were going to do do.
Labour have a long way to go to match the previous govt's dishonesty.

Have a look here (Sky News) but you may doubt Sky News so also have a look at Hansard that states "... undertakings given by the Secretary of State when in opposition that the Labour party in government would not change inheritance tax reliefs for farming". Note: the Minister in responding did not refute that such an assurance was given. If that's not lying what do you call it when they say one thing and do the opposite?

The minute detail clearly was lost on the voting public. One of the weaknesses of democracy. But democracy is the best we have.
On the other hand farmers are pretty cheesed off with what Brexit has meant to them.
That's politics.

There is a big difference between changing your position over time in the light of new information and attempting to deliberately mislead..

What minute detail? 'We won't do this ...' 'we have done it'. Nothing minute about that!

Do you read farming magazines with farming columnists? I do and I certainly don't pick up anti-Brexit sentiment.

I agree but if you do you should say you have and give the reason why, with supporting evidence. And are you saying Labour didn't deliberately mislead knowing there was a GE due in the next 12 months! In the build-up to the expected GE they were prepared to say whatever they deemed necessary to gain votes.

Governments own research show ROCE on a farm is only 0.5%, so they are proposing a tax at 40 times ROCE
