I always wonder about how keen some of these tracks are to cancel, especially during the winter. They receive payments from the HBLB when a meeting is cancelled. Putting drainage in is not a simple process and is usually very costly, York racecourse recently spent £2.5 million on a new drainage system. You can spike the ground etc cheaply but that won't help much if you have a drainage issue.
