Another flipping hypocrite makes 'an error of judgement' in ignoring his own lockdown advice to the government.

Edit: mind you, if that's the bird he was seeing I'd do the same.
You might be in with a shout, seems shes has a open relationship with her husband so viewed seeing her lover (Ferguson) as being part of the same household.

Even though the lover drew up the lockdown rules that couples not living together could not see each other.

Maybe they were meeting to discuss an exit strategy....

With the exception of 22nd April which saw a single digit increase of more deaths than the previous day England has now seen hospital deaths drops day on day every day now for 14 days.

Now just below the same levels last seen 26th-28th March

Part of what made this classic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh4f9AYRCZY extra funny to me, was how the chaos erupted into what he seemed to have been a perfectly staged room. A World map right behind, a bookcase to one side. Then a big pile of papers to his right with a monster book on top to signal busy and smart, or whatever, and three stacks of books perfectly aligned and with equal height at the foot of the bed to his left. Who places books on the foot of the bed? Some people just try so hard, that they comes off the opposite of the intended.
weirdly, i TRIED (and failed) to do a pastiche of this with my kids a few weeks ago to wish a far off friend a happy significant b'day. however, all attempts just looked staged and wooden. the real thing is hard to beat (btw -my two youngests kids are 17 & 20, so thought it would be hilarious!).

but yeah -super classic.

Persuading your 17 year old into a baby walker might have been a video in its own right.

At least 20,000 people infected with coronavirus arrived in the UK before lockdown amid lack of restrictions
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/0 ... -lockdown/
Ministers have maintained they acted on the scientific advice of SAGE that tougher restrictions would have a “negligible” impact given the domestic transmission rate then and the dramatically-reduced number of passengers now entering the UK.

However, this appeared at odds on Tuesday with Sir Patrick Vallance, the Government’s chief scientific adviser, who told MPs the UK got “many, many different imports of the virus from many different places...particularly from European countries with outbreaks.”

'And so we see a big influx of cases, probably from Italy and Spain looking at the genomics of the virus in early March, seeded right the way across the country,” he told the health and social care committee.

“Whether that was people returning from half-term, whether it’s business travellers or not we don’t know, but a lot of the cases in the UK didn’t come from China and didn’t come from the places you might have expected.

“They actually came from European imports and the high level of travel into the UK around that time.”
The UK was still accepting flights from Northern Italy after they'd locked it down. It was obvious madness as many of us said at the time.

I doubt this extreme lockdown would have been necessary if we'd have took early action instead of trying to wing it.

Why do fewer people die on Sunday and Monday, or are these just the days deaths are reported?

The daily figures are stuff reported from hospitals and now care homes. But the death could have happened some days ago. Hospital admins that report these things probably are 5 day-a week, 9-5 er's.
Dallas's periodic reference to 7-day rolling average is probably the most sensible way to try to see the trends. But even then you have the blips where they suddenly decide to include care homes.
Bottom line is the figures are edging down. Whether that will be maintained as restrictiosn are lifted, who knows?
Still, the Bundesliga will be back soon. Puts pressure on the Premier League and government.

This one is a good reference (although you never see it in the media), this shows the actual date the death took place in hospitals in England, like Greenmark said deaths are often reported a few days behind but this also gives a clearer picture over the longer term

Yesterday there was one death added to 19th Mar and 30th Mar but 90% are reported within 7 days so the focus is only on the greyed area.

Unnecessary targets!! Matt Hancock's been frantically been trying to meet his 100,000 test deadline to save his face. Unlikely to achieve his target, at least he can now relax for a while with the pressure off. Now it's just the small matter of saving thousands of lives.

Well he easily surpassed the 100,000 target just about all the media and opposition politicians said he had no hope of reaching. 'm waiting to hear all the "I got it wrong" messages from them but I doubt I will hear any … and remember they are not trying to make political points from CV19!! Yeah, right.
The government now missed the target four days on the trot - it was nothing more than a publicity stunt. On Question Time Sir Paul Nurse (whoever he is) compared it to the Channel Tunnel having the capacity for 10 trains an hour when the networks on either side only have 3 trains per hour.

Surely testing the right people should be prioritised over sheer numbers?

Lockdown extended for another 3 weeks in scotland, can see there being riots here if boris says the same, and tbh I wouldn't blame them this time

Seems an odd thing to do before even having the joint call with other devolved leaders.

I havn't been through and read any of the old comments so I apologise if this topic has already been brought up, but why do The US have a Patent on Corona Virus & why does Europe have a Patent on a Vacine. I can understand a patent on a vacine but not the actual virus itself.

This has fueld a new conspiracy, i'm not interested in that i'm just curious as to why you would Patent a virus.
