The actual date of deaths (not reported days) is still falling in Englands hospitals, but as I said previoustly it does look like its levelling off and reaching a plato, the next week or so should start seeing any impacts from the first part of lockdown easing.

I'm surprised by the inclusion of Rother, East Sussex. Sussex and particularly East Sussex has a very low infection rate compared with the surrounding counties … maybe that's because it hasn't peaked. But I'm wondering if it's because it has less commuters into London than Kent, Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex. Maybe there is something to thank a poor train service for!wearthefoxhat wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 2:40 pmAs close as I can get to locations that could be worth avoiding for a few weeks.

Derek, please, they are all at it whether in power or not and Starmer is no better … they never answer the question that is put to them unless they agree with it in which case the interviewer is doing a poor job! I can't remember the last time I heard a politician give a direct answer to a question. I have often wondered about a TV satire quiz along these lines … they play the politician's answer and the teams have to guess the question! Could give Hislop and Merton a run for their money!

Lockdown is/was not a cure it was simply a short term attempt to control the rate of infection. 'Herd immunity' was not a false plan and until we achieve herd immunity or find a cure/vaccination we will all eventually be infected or the virus will disappear/die out on it's own. I'm not sure about this "it will die out in the summer" theory. If that's the case how come hot countries are infected … The northern temperatures of Brazil for example. In Para the average daytime temperature is 30C - 35C all through the year and yet it is one of the worst affected areas of South America. I can't see our summer bailing us out. But then I confess to not being an expert, just my thinking on the stats.

I'll pay a bit more attention from now but I watch the news every day and I can barely remember Starmer being questioned - he's usually just giving statements as BJ and DC have occupied most of the news.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 12:48 pmDerek, please, they are all at it whether in power or not and Starmer is no better … they never answer the question that is put to them unless they agree with it in which case the interviewer is doing a poor job! DC (more than BJ) has only monopolised the news because the media are desperate for something to talk about. CV19 as a long running thread doesn't have the sub-threads that Brexit had. With CV19 it's just a matter of daily repeating "sadly X people have died, please be a hermit and we have ordered Y medical supplies"! There's no new news. And I'm not singling Starmer out it's just he is the Leader of the Opposition but your right, he's hardly in the news … wait a minute, wasn't that something they were criticising BJ for?

Like Frank, I can sense a hint of bias in your views. The media are not desperate for something to talk about. The bottom line is people can't stand hypocrites who tell you to stay at home but do the opposite. Even so, I can forgive someone who's honest enough to put his hand up, admit he's screwed-up and resign. Refusing to resign is bad enough, to treat us like idiots and expect us to believe the eye test story - it makes you want to punch the guy!firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 1:18 pmDC (more than BJ) has only monopolised the news because the media are desperate for something to talk about. Let it go now Derek! Even the BBC have given up (for now).
The police concluded he might have committed a minor breach of the lockdown rules - it merited neither a resignation nor a week long witch hunt.
A couple of months ago the BBC broadcast a profile of Cummings called ‘Taking Control; The Dominic Cummings story’. It was predictably a one-side character assassination and was presented by, yep, you guessed it, Remoaner-in-chief Emily Maitlis. DC has previously called for an end of the BBC in its current form. It was no surprise they led last week's media lynch-mob.

I think they should reinstate Dr Catherine Calderwood. All she did was commute between her two homes. A lot of well-heeled Scots live in Edinburgh during the week and head off to their other home at the weekend.superfrank wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 2:42 pmLet it go now Derek! You, me, and everybody in the world (except my mother) might have committed a crime, so it's a pretty meaningless and non-conclusive statement. You've either broken the rules or you haven't, so what the police are really saying is that they haven't the faintest idea whether he's broken the rules or not.
Furthermore, what exactly is the difference between a minor breach and a major breach? Have the rules been categorized into minor and major rules that have to be adhered to? The police statement is total bollocks!
By the way, Emily is my former girlfriend and I don't like to hear anything bad said about her. In fact, we might just get back together again.
