The Independent wrote:Condemning the violent rioters who stormed the Capitol on Wednesday, acting attorney general Jeffrey Rosen in a statement assured that those responsible for the attack would "face the full consequences of their actions under the law."

The protesters are liable to be punished with up to 10 years in prison for “injury of federal property," under the executive order signed by President Donald Trump during the Black Lives Matter anti-racism protests in July 2020.

"I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues - and combatting recent Criminal Violence," Mr Trump wrote on Twitter on 26 June, after people took to the streets in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. "Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!"
What goes around comes around. Surely a 10-year prison sentence for their ring leader? :D

Can't say i didn't see it coming, big tech bubble wrapping peoples minds... I wonder what happens when giants like Facebook, Twitter & Google get to choose what can and can't be said in the Western "free world" - it stinks of them being propaganda tools but of course they're just looking out for us. Well tbh I liked being able to think about whatever I choose to and find like minded people. If I don't like what others had to say I had the choice not to engage or even counter debate. I don't know how anyone can be ok with this. One day its their views, the next its yours.

I dont get the obsession with Trump having the codes... have people got some sort mental visual of Trump with a joystick swiveling it around, selecting country to country like some sort of Dr Evil scene. If he were to launch it would be a retaliation from someone else launching or on the advice of multiple Generals... he isn't just gonna finish his Weetos and think Fuck it let's take out the world.... and conspiracy theorists get mocked.
I spent my last week at school setting off fire extinguishers and fire alarms, yet I still consider myself then, more mature than Trump is now. :)

Can't quite see the madness. I don't know what was posted on it but any app that welcomes 'free speech' is asking for trouble. When people have to search for an underground platform to exercise their 'free speech', it often says more about the content of their 'free speech' than the authority blocking it.

If you spend half your life on Facebook and in internet chat rooms and forums looking for people who agree with your beliefs / opinions then I could see why you'd be pissed off but most normal and sane people don't so I don't think it matters in the grand scheme of things. If social media vanished tomorrow I couldn't give a toss to be honest, I'm not on Facebook and barely use Twitter.

Twitter is full of idiots you only have to look at what trends on a daily basis to see that, which is a shame because it could have been such a power for good. The absolute best thing about Twitter is everyone gets a chance to voice their opinion, the absolute worst thing about Twitter is everyone exercise's their right to voice that opinion! Even when they have no clue what they're talking about.

Facebook is an interesting one, most of my friends people I grew up with and have known for 20+ years are on Facebook and whenever I've looked at their profiles I find myself asking "Who are these people?" Its so unbelievably fake. Its like profiles on a dating app!

I think Google rather than banning app's where at the end of the day its adults talking about adult things (however nuts they are) would be better focusing on trying to rid the internet of exploitation and abuse. Youtube is another, some of the comments on innocent videos are disgusting and I'm sure it would be fairly simple for an algorithm to be able to detect that kind of stuff and ban the profile responsible but they don't seem bothered.

Big Tech is here to stay and everybody who uses it is guilty of feeding the beast so there's no point people complaining about it unless they're going to completely unplug and go analogue!

the worst thing about twitter and the like is it as made it easy for nutters and sad bastards to reach each other, before they existed most of them were living with their mums watching cornation street, resenting the world.

Its not an underground app, like some sort of dark web shit, it's just not as main stream as the big ones. It was on app store, the play store and Google, that is hardly underground. Do you think Google should have the right to de platform this forum because of our conversations? Its too far Derek, if people don't like the content there which from what I believe it was a conservative platform then DONT use it, it really is that simple. I've not used Facebook for years because I was sick of people telling me what the weather was like or what they had for tea or their husbands/wifes dirty deeds, it was my choice to leave because believe it or not, I can make those sorts of decisions for myself.

Gambling is deemed highly addictive and inappropriate so let's de platform Betfair and every other bookie. Its nanny state, its bollox and its because peoples spines seem to have melted.

I wouldn't be bothered either if they all disappeared, I think it would a great day. That isn't the case though, its a monopoly over narrative/beliefs from the big 3. Started at the micro level of suspending accounts and now its macro level, termination of whole platforms and they so happen to be of the opposition to the Left. It just so happens that if you only turn left in life you'll end up going round in circles, the same for only turning right. Democracy isn't about one way loops, its taking turns in both directions that leads us forward.

Massive between 'free speech' which I agree with and would defend, and inciting violence. Inciting violence tries to subvert democratic debate, probably because the inciters know they can't win via reasoned debate.

I feel that one is just a by product of the other and to counter the issues that come with free speech (such as violence) we have tax payer funded protections, such as law enforcement. Imo it's not the job of Big Tech to enforce biased censorship in the name of protection. Peoples online lives are forever increasing, outside of that (in real life) we have a Democratic process of electing representation... in a digital world that incrementally imposes its influence on our social standings we have no Democratic process of representation other than choice through competitive industry, a monopoly isn't an exciting prospect, especially with the power that they hold.
