I'm aware of that, but if they accept MasterCard and VISA, they should say credit or debit card, at least to make it clear to anyone who doesn't have a credit card that they're still welcome. Rule of thumb is 1. If your withdrawing cash then use a debit card. 2. If your buying goods or services then use a credit card.
In the US if someone steals your debit card and empties your bank account then it’s a nightmare trying to get your money back under fraud legislation.
First time I went ot the states, stayed in a cheap motel. Women asked for my credit card, said I didn't have one. She looked at me as though I was an alien. Had to pay a $500 deposit. Which on the face of it was probably more than the motel was worth.Derek27 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 8:59 amI'm aware of that, but if they accept MasterCard and VISA, they should say credit or debit card, at least to make it clear to anyone who doesn't have a credit card that they're still welcome.
