... it" is as unfair (from a pure democracy point of view) as the FPTP electoral system!
I seem to recall it was considered OK (FPTP) when the cons were in power
That may have been your view but I don't think I said that. The only advantage of FPTP is it usually results in a majority Government who can get on with running the country unimpeded.

Define a lefty, define a luvvie then get that thru parliament.
You were silent while the Tories ruined our country. Now we can't shut you up. You are appaling hypocrites.
Silent?!!!! Have you been on a long holiday on the moon? But I do note how Lefties and Luvvies don't like it when their beloved Kier and friends get the same treatment they handed out to the Conservatives.

Why do you hate people so much that you want to shove asylum seekers back to a place they tried so hard to escape?
Have you no conscience? Would you not wish to escape Afghanistan, Syria, Iran?
Yes I would but I fail to see why these people are at risk in the European countries.

If true then Starmer and Labour will be gone next GE.

But can you imagine Nigel becoming PM. The UK would become more divided than ever. They wouldn’t need to worry about immigration as millions would be on the coast looking for a dinghy.

🤣
And I would be happy to help launch them! :D

Good spot... Does seem very high alright given the apparent restrictions...
I don't think they can dress it up anymore they've literally opened up our borders, threw all the control measures in the bin and then spent billions on it and said nothing to see here while calling everyone a racist who questioned it. Labour started it and the Tory's accelerated it at warp speed, neither party has never had a mandate to do so, good old democracy.

Reform UK are now pushing for all the Universal Credit numbers now by the looks of it, they have requested immigration/foreign national housing/benefit data across the board that Government have never published to the public. What has been published so far it would appear not many immigrants are working they appear to be in publicly funded council houses/hotels and on benefits.

Basically what the racists who questioned how their tax was being spent have been saying for years appears to be true.

Farge was on Question Time last night, he is pro immigration and always has been as long as it is managed, controlled and benefits the UK (filling skills gaps when required for example). He is anti-illegal immigration but been labeled for years, the evidence is also now supporting what he has been saying all along.

He made the above very clear last night, the audience supported him, strange to see a Question Time audience have so much support for Nigel Farage, maybe he's on to something.

On current polling Reform could become 3rd largest party in Holyrood next Scottish elections.

Find it quite scary as a lot of his old party candidates were clearly half-witted foaming-at-the-mouth bigoted racists. Hopefully he will have a better screening process this time.

(and I do mean "racists" as opposed to having a genuine concern about immigration)

That said, Farage as PM or having a leading role in a UK Gov will get Indie way up the agenda again - it's all been very quiet on that front up here for last couple of years... (only the Tories bang on about it as they have nothing else to say)...

Do you really want to stop the boats? If so then you should back digital ID cards.

Labour will be forced to back it because it's the only thing that will save their necks. 🪓

If they don't do it Farage will. 🪪

Do not see the connection.

Smuggler to Migrant: Do you have a digital ID card
Migrant: No
Smuggler: Can't get on the dingy then....

I don't see a need for ID cards we have passports, driving licenses and NI numbers we don't need anything more. I would however support ID cards for foreign nationals in the UK which could be used and have the following on:

Right to NHS healthcare to be presented when seeking NHS care to show access (I'd ban NHS access to all foreign nationals unless working in the NHS tbh)
Driving license
Immigration status
Visa status/restrictions
Right to work in the UK
Criminal record

Probs a few more to add but they are just off the top of my head, could be done of a QR code, would also assist employers.

Yes I have seen them openly they admit some candidates weren't suitable but they had to mobilise in such a short space of time and were let down by a vetting company, all party's get these types but that doesn't condone it. Politics does need cleaning up but Labour haven't done anything yet and when they have they have got it wrong.

I don't agree with Louise Haigh's politics but she done wrong a long time ago and no way should she have been forced to resign, she's not been in trouble again and her conviction is spent she should be able to get on with her life in Government. Sends out the totally wrong message especially to young people with criminal convictions. If her crime was recent like the above and not spent then yes resign/sacked, I believe in rehabilitation for most crimes excluding murder, rape, mass drug dealing, human trafficking etc

Whether you love or hate Farage it looks like Reform are here to stay and you can't hide form what they have done in such a short space of time. They are a big player in England, Wales and Scotland no doubt about it, Labour or the Tory's have no answer to Farage or Reform at the moment.

Nope...

They need documentation already to get a (legal) job or even claim benefits.

And the illegal jobs on offer won't care a tuppence if they have ID or not.

Value added by ID cards zero...

Maybe there is a case to be made for having ID cards but it certainly isn't to stop the boats..

Oh dear I see that old (never proven) bandwagon is back! I think "foaming-at-the-mouth" just about sums up the substantiality of such generalisations! For example "a lot" needs defining, it could mean differing numbers for different people.

People go on about Farage being a racist but I've yet to see a clear racist comment from him, not wanting illegal immigrants is not racist. It is your right to feel offended if you choose so but as Ricky Gervais said being offended doesn't make it wrong.

As for the prospects of Indie coming back in the mix ... great, another good thing Farage will have brought about! :D

I would have no problem with digital ID cards. We effectively have that but not in one efficient place. Why not put it in one place and grant selective access permissions. The only people to fear ID cards are those with something to hid and those that play the 'privacy' card and whinge about the problems it could solve!

Think beyond the boats, think of how more difficult it could make living for those (including illegal migrants) who didn't have one.
