Only just come across Derek's post, sad to hear and gutted I missed a chance to say goodbye to him. The forum won't be the same without him, RIP.

as we haven't heard anything from Derek since Sun Jul 06, 2025 20:45, I think I have to mournfully assume that he has sadly, finally passed after his brief, but positive struggle.

As noted in previous posts to this, Derek was a fine and often politely combative contributor. This year, he definitely would have had something to say about his tomatoes - just a shame he wasn't able to share his passions and observations.

Well, i'd like to raise a final glass (tho for sure won't be the final time *dezza* is mentioned) and say, all the best Derek and thank you for elevating the personal post count beyond which few will reach :). And on a more serious note, thanks for reminding me in particular of the importance in treasuring each day and those around us..

I was actually thinking of Derek earlier. We've had a bumper crop of Sungold tomatoes this year, and they still keep coming. He popped into my head as I picked the latest ripe ones

Awful news Derek, we never chatted much but I was always on the sidelines watching your arguments unfold :D

Almost posted something similar. As a non-drinker I was gifted some booze recently and it felt right to make an exception by toasting Derek over dinner the other day.

Derek took over the baton from Ferru and was the life of this forum for a long time.

Hope he is up there enjoying some celestial trading.

A huge loss for the community, but good to see the forum activity recovering well

His 8.49 posts per day will take a monumental effort to ever match by anyone, came very close to top poster

Those that mind, don't matter

And those that matter, don't mind

Not sure who said it but I love that one 👍
