I have been with Betfair for over 20 years!
I have had the same address registered for over 20 years!

However, last night they suspended my account because I had to verify it.
They wanted a driving licence scan.
I did that, clearly showing the same address that they have had for 20 years!

Nope, that wasn't good enough
I had to send a selfie with me holding the licence.
Then I had to send a selfie with a piece of paper showing today's date.
Then they wanted a selfie with me holding both!!

Now I'm waiting to hear back, as they still haven't OK'd it
If they don't know me by now, they never flipping will!!!!

What's going on?

I know compliance departments are under a lot of pressure to make sure they fully understand who a customer is, but I always think that this stuff is absolutely mental.

Really, it's the regulation that needs changing because it's so overboard now. It's ridiculous on anything to do with money.

Its so unfair and unjustified, surely their must be a governing body against all this, what if this is your main source of income? why dont they go after the real Launderers and leave the Trading/Betting people alone

That's the main issue I have is how many bad actors are actually being caught with this stuff. It must be a tiny tiny amount against people how are inconvenienced by it.

Happened to me 24 months ago ish... Also had to do some online audit with a live agent. Was down to me depositing an amount of money that flagged it.

At least they didn’t make you do the final verification boss fight:

Can't help but feel accounts on Betfair are so vulnerable now – doesn't feel like reliable source of income anymore. And if you're full time no official source of income to show, can't look good on paper.

No deposits, increase staking volume was apparently triggered it last time
I've been asked to contact them again despite talking to them 2-3wks ago

Bit scared about withdrawing as been growing the account a bit recently and got more in there than I need. I was informed about the difference between AUS and UK laws and as 100% of my activity has not been through my VPS I'm concerned for my account as I bet a bit in play, which is apparently not supposed to be allowed from Australia unless done via telephone. Which legally could be seen as circumventing a law they've been asked to impose and gains from such methods may be potentially frozen investigated or worst case seized ...

Should be ok if I don't go under manual review but I don't like it on paper and I'm not sure how to proceed maybe start routing everything through VPS like a good boy ? Historical logs / manual audit is always going to uncover this though... Don't think Safer Gambling team is a concern and checks such things but perhaps AML team or something could be flagged due to large withdrawal sums vs. my tiny ass deposit budget in theory and automated system may flag that and dif IPs could be seen as a hacker potentiality leading to flag and investigation

Funny enough my UK bank just asked me yesterday to verify my identity.. after shitilions of years with them.I have no idea whats goin on in the UK right now. Absoulte bobbins.
Im worried that I will be asked to verify myself everywhere I go and every person I talk to now every 30 mins... soon I'll probably need a biometric scan with all of my bank statement and bill for my electricity in the last 3 months documents in my pocket just to order a coffee or cross a road.

Yes - lost my account today after 24 years. The review came after a deposit of 2.5k for the World Cup.

I tried pretty much everything - they wanted the works. Got this today:

Here's the thing -

'Dave' won't tell u want department he is from.
'Dave' is not customer facing - so non contactable
'Dave' will want yr mobile number and a time to call u - they will NOT take yr call.

After spending months jumping through hoops for the bastards, they pied me off anyway.

Having suffered a similar fate at the hands of compliance officers (aka failed traders) on the futures markets, I have had to adapt.

Getting back on betfair now seems almost impossible. Part of me is glad because I am no longer paying Dave's wages, however part of me is absolutely devastated as i genuinely enjoy bet angel and the in running.
